Biography
Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Kate got her start in the aviation industry in 2007 when she began flight training as part of a program at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. There, she achieved her commercial pilot’s licence and a bachelor of business administration. Upon graduating, she moved to BC “for 6 months” to complete further training to become a flight instructor. 5 years later Kate is still living in the Lower Mainland, teaching people to fly.
A chance training opportunity with Aerobotika co-founders in the Spring of 2014 got Kate started on the path toward unmanned aviation. She has since become the Training Lead with Aerobotika Aerial Intelligence, training over 100 prospective UAV operators since February of 2015.
Kate’s passion for teaching comes naturally as the daughter of a University professor and dean. Her own thirst of knowledge fuels this drive because she believes, as Einstein said, “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t know it well enough.”
