This course is for UAV entusaists and professionals that do not have surveying work experience or education. By the end of this course, students will have a high level general knowledge of traditional ground based surveying and systems and how they work. Students will be given a strong fundamental understanding of traditional and modern surveying, technology, and best practices so that they can speak the language of the surveyors and engineers that they will work with.
Students will have an in depth knowledge of GNSS systems like GNSS and GLONASS and real time kinematics (RTK) and other related positioning systems and all of the associated factors that affect their accuracy and how to apply them to UAV geomatics.
They will understand the technical aspects of the systems engineered specifically for UAV geomatics such as aircraft, sensors, processing software, and UAV specific positioning systems. They will have a thorough knowledge of what products currently exist and of industry trends specific to UAV geomatics. Products covered include software, services, sensors, and aircraft.
Through the practical portions of the course, students will be taught skills to apply the tools necessary to create full two and three dimensional models with both sample data and data that is collected by the class in the field using Pix4D and Agisoft software.
Graduates will be able to follow a workflow from start to finish to capture aerial data and produce geomatics products.
